American Actor and former WWE star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finally cleared the air around about his appearance in the future Fast & Furious movies and has confirmed that he won’t be returning to the franchise.
The Rock and Vin Diesel had a fallout on the sets of the Fate of the Furious in 2017 which resulted in the former dropping out of the recently released 9th instalment of the globally successful thriller franchise.
In a Men’s Health interview, Vin had addressed the beef between Dwayne and him and said, “I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”
Diesel said that it was his “tough love” act that enabled Dwayne to perform better in the movies.
Responding to Vin’s comments, Dwayne told The Hollywood Reporter, “I laughed and I laughed hard. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that.”
Later he went on to add, “And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
In the Fast and the Furious franchise, Dwayne is known to play the character of Luke Hobbs. He played the character for the first time in the year 2011 in Fast Five and later returned for Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015) and The Fate of the Furious (2017).
He also went on to star in the franchise’s spin-off movie Hobbs & Shaw in 2019 with Jason Statham, who reprised his role of Deckard Shaw from the long-running series. Dwayne has said that he’d be focusing more on the Hobbs & Shaw sequels which are currently in pipeline.
