After the rejection of loan application, a person poured petrol inside the bank, and set it on fire. The bizarre incident occurred on Saturday late night. The bank was situated at Hedigonda village of Byadgi taluk in Haveri district.
As per sources, the person who set the bank on fire is 33-year old, Wasim Hazaratsab Mulla. He is a resident of Rattihalli town in the district. Wasim applied for a loan with the Canara Bank located in Hedigonda village of Kaginele police station limits. But his loan application was rejected due to his low credit scores.
According to police, a case under Sections 436, 477, 435 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at Kaginelli police station.
Wasim Hazaratsab Mulla, was very disappointed after the rejection of his loan application. On late Saturday night, he went to bank with petrol and poured it inside the bank after breaking a window. The villagers informed police about the incident and even catched the accused who was running away.
After the fire broke out, all possible efforts were done by villagers to douse the fire. The firefighters from Haveri rushed to the village and successfully doused the fire.
Cash counter and cabin, CCTV system, five computers, passbook printer, scanner, printer, cash counting machine, fans, lights, few documents and furniture got damaged in the fire incident. A total worth of Rs 12 lakh have completely damaged in the incident. Enquiry is ongoing in this matter.
