On Tuesday, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested six people who were allegedly going to execute terror attacks in the capital (Delhi), Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra during the festive season. Arrested men are trained by ISI and the officials claim that the intelligence agency was working with close contact of Anees Ibrahim (brother of Dawood Ibrahim).
Special CP (Special Cell) Neeraj Thakur said, “We have arrested Jaan Mohammed Sheikh (47), a resident of Maharashtra; Osama alias Sami (22), a resident of Jamia Nagar.
Police also said that each accused was tasked with a different aspect of the terror plan. Maharashtra, Up and Delhi were the places where the terrorists were arrested. The group of terrorists were going to carry out a major attack during Navratri, Diwali and Ramlila, said the Delhi Police.
The names of six accused are Mohammad Amir Javed (31), Mohammad Abu Bakar (23), Moolchand alias Saaju (47), Jaan Mohammed Sheikh (47), Osama alias Sami (22) and Zeeshan Qamar (28).
Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said, “Pakistan-organised terror module has been busted.” He said two of those arrested were “Pakistan-trained terrorists”.
Police claimed that a Pakistan-based person was assigned to ensure the safe delivery of grenades, IEDs, weapons and explosives in the respective area.
Improvised Explosive devices have been recovered from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
The Special CP (Special Cell) Neeraj Thakur, said, “They were asked to conduct recce of suitable locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for planting IEDs,”.
The four have been sent to fourteen days of police custody. Osama Sami and Lala reportedly have criminal backgrounds and have previously worked in the underworld.
Zeeshan Qamar and Mohammad Amir Javed will be presented before the court on Wednesday.
Neeraj Thakur of Special Cell, said, “It looks like this operation was closely coordinated from across the border. There were two teams, one was being coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim. The team was also working towards organising funding through hawala”
