Amid the continuous rise in covid cases, a big worry situation came to light, as 338 resident doctors tested positive in Maharashtra over the last four days. Maharashtra is already one of the major coronavirus hotspots. Dr. Avinash Dahiphale, president of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors shared this information.
“338 resident doctors from various hospitals in the state have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last four days,” President of Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), Dr. Avinash Dahiphale told ANI.
Across the country, a large number of frontline and healthcare workers are getting infected with the virus. The new variant of Covid-19, the Omicron variant is highly transmissible. This variant was firstly discovered in South Africa in 2021.
This week, at least 50 doctors of AIIMS, Delhi, tested positive and went under isolation. Over 23 doctors of the Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, have also tested positive in the last week. As per the ANI report, 45 healthcare workers, including 38 doctors, ended up contracting Covid-19 in the past few days in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi.
Meanwhile, India crossed the mark of more than 1 Lakh cases on Friday and 302 deaths. India reported 1,17,100 cases on Friday.
