The budget car market in India is a crowded market because of the presence of a lot of players, therefore it becomes extremely important for the customer to make an informed choice and buy the car which well suits their needs and comes under the budget especially after the Covid-19 pandemic which strained supply chains, diminished the purchasing power of a large section of the people wanting to buy cars.
But as soon as the conditions seem to improve, the automotive industry is getting back on its feet after a year of negligible sales.
India is the gift largest Automobiles market and a large chunk of the market is occupied by Budget cars, lets have a look at the upcoming budget cars in India in the second half of 2021.
- TATA HBX
expected to go on sale by October 2021, Tata HBX the micro SUV could be priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
It is expected to come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine (86PS/113Nm), mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Tata is also expected to provide it with the Atroz’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit.
The HBX could feature a 7-inch touchscreen system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and auto AC along with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear parking camera.
- Maruti Celerio 2021
The next-gen Celerio is expected to be launched in September this year with a price tag of Rs 4.5 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
It is expected to get the same 1.0-litre petrol engine (68PS/90Nm) as the previous generation models. The motor is likely to be paired with 5-speed MT and AMT options. It is expected to come with a 7-inch touchscreen system and 14-inch alloy wheels.
On the safety front, Maruti is expected to include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
- Maruti XL5
Expected to be launched early in September, it is expected to get the WagonR’s 1.2-litre engine that puts out 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque. Maruti could also offer it with the same transmission options as the WagonR – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
Features such as 15-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and LED elements in its tail lamps are expected to be packed with XL5. Maruti is likely to offer it with more premium upholstery, automatic climate control, and push-button start-stop.
Its expected price is between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6.5 lakh.
- Honda Brio 2021
Honda unveiled the car way back in 2019 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in Jakarta. It is based on the Honda Small RS Concept which was unveiled earlier this year. It looks quite different from the one currently sold in India and borrows design cues from the all-new Amaze.
The second-generation Brio has the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine from the outgoing model that produces 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. The diesel option is not available with the car as of now, but we expect it is expected to be a part of the India lineup.
It is believed to be launched in December 2021 with prices falling between Rs 5 lakh -7 lakh.
MG 3 is suspected to be launched in India in December 2021 and would be available in Petrol engines. MG 3 is available in Manual transmission only. In configurations, MG 3 has dimensions of 4055 mm in length, 1729 mm in width and 1504 mm^3 mm in height.
It is expected to bear a price tag of Rs 6Lakh plus
