Navrati is the nine days festival celebrated in our country. People worship Maa Durga in various forms. This time people observe fasts. People observe fasts as per their choices and tradition. Some food items are good to be consumed during fasts while some are completely prohibited to eat during navrati. So let’s have a look at them:-
You can eat any fruit or dry fruit at the time of fasting. Fruits helps to maintain stamina in our body and provide nutrients. Some people observe fast for 9 days by only eating fruits. This kind of fast is known as ‘falahar’.
Milk and milk products
Needless to say, milk is always a best option to consume during fast. You can consume milk products like yoghurt, ghee, malai, khoya, paneer and many more. Milk products are also good for health and consuming them will maintain energy in the body. You can also drink Lassi or buttermilk to cool down your body.
You cannot consume all the veggies during fast. But there are few that can consume which includes, pumpkin, potato, bottle gourd and arbi. You can make any kind of sabji out of these veggies during the fast.
Flour and grains
You can consume samak ke rice or sabutdana instead of rice. People do not consume rice or wheat during the navrati fast. You can consume kuttu or singhara ka atta or rajgira ka atta. These are the healthy alternative choices. You can also prepare kheer of sabutdana or samak rice.
•Do not consume garlic, wheat flour, turmeric, onion, tomato, coffee etc. Only use Desi ghee during the fast do not use mustard oil and sesame oil. These foods are to be completed avoided during fasting.
By observing fast in a correct way, you can also shed kilos and help your body to detox.
