Bollywood director, writer and reality TV judge Anurag Basu has revealed that his 2017 musical thriller Jagga Jasoos’s story might be reworked for it to better suit as a web series. The movie received very polar reviews at the time of its release as some said that the movie is exceptionally great and some said it is an absolute disaster.
However, at the end of the day, it was the audience’s word against the critics and clearly, audiences didn’t like the movie and it tanked at the box office, failing to even recover its cost.
Due to multiple delays, the movie’s productions stretched over 3 years and when it tanked, Govinda and Rishi Kapoor were the first to criticize Basu for their respective personal reasons. Even the lead actors Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor broke up during the movie’s production and haven’t worked together since then.

Recently Basu said that there is more in the pipeline for the film as he has several offers from OTT platforms to make ‘Jagga Jasoos’ into a web series.
He even said that Pritam who gave the music for the movie is also excited about the idea but the idea of starting ‘Jagga Jasoos’ all over again is the problem for Basu as he said, “I wouldn’t name the platforms, but we had offers of developing it into a series. But if it didn’t work in theatres, how do we know it will work on OTT?”
But it’s not just the story and plot that Basu might have to sort out, it’s the actor’s schedule too which he might have to take into consideration as he rightly said, “We keep talking about working together again, but that won’t happen anytime soon. Ranbir is extremely busy right now.”
Even Basu is working currently on a yet-unannounced episodic project for a major OTT platform after the success of his Netflix movie Ludo for which he won the award for best director at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
