India’s favourite game show Kaun Banega Crorepati is in its 13th season and everyone’s beloved Amitabh Bachchan is carrying the show as the host. Every season, people dearly wait to see the Big-B screaming “1 crore” when someone wins breaches the one crore question.
This season, the show is just in the 2nd week and we already have a crorepati. Himani Bundela, a 25-year-old maths teacher from Agra is the one who had the honors of being the first winner of this season.
Himani Bundela, hailing from Agra is visually impaired due to an accident in the year 2011 when she was in her 11th standard and was going to her Chemistry tuition. Later on, she continued her studies and now teaches at a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Agra.
After her episode aired on Monday and Tuesday, she said in an interview that her journey on the hot seat was full of ups and downs. She even addressed that for her the most difficult situation was when she faced that question for ₹1 crore. She said that she was very nervous because the amount and risk both were huge. If she would’ve answered that wrong, she would have fallen on ₹ 3,20,000 and that would have been a huge loss for her And all the efforts that she had put in to reach there would have got wasted.
Her question for One Crore was “Which of these was an alias used by Noor Inayat Khan to work as a spy for Britain in France during the Second World War?”. She had the options Vera Atkins, Krystyna Skarbek, Julienne Aisner and Jeanne-Marie Renier. After pondering over for a while she answered option D, i.e., Jeanne-Marie Renier which was the correct option.
For her Jackpot question worth 7 Crore, she had to answer “What was the title of the thesis that Dr BR Ambedkar submitted to the London School of Economics for which he was awarded his doctorate in 1923?” and her options were, The Want And Means Of India, The Problem Of The Rupee, National Dividend Of India and The Law And Lawyers.
Unaware of the answer, she quit the show with One crore in her account.
Later she said that with the winning amount she wants to start inclusive coaching for competitive exams such as UPSC, CPCS where the differently-abled and normal kids will study together. She said that she also wants to set up her father’s small business which completely came to zero during the lockdown.
She is the first visually impaired participant to be seated on the HOT SEAT.
