The Income Tax department surveyed Sonu Sood’s office in Mumbai on Wednesday. As per the reports, the IT department has surveyed six locations linked to actor in the office of his charity based at his home in Juhu was also included. After raids at his office yesterday, this morning, taxmen arrived at actor’s home in Mumbai investigating regarding his property deal with a real estate company which is Lucknow based.
The reports says that the tax raid came days after Sonu Sood became the brand ambassador for the Delhi government’s mentorship programme for school students. After the meeting on the chances to join politics with Aam Aadmi Party, the actor refused to answer any questions. But in another interview actor was seen clarifying the possibility of him joining politics, “false and baseless”. Sood further added that he and his family have no such interest in politics and they are not joining any political party.
Amid IT survey AAP accused BJP for raiding on actor’s house due to political agenda. During the tough times Arvind Kejriwal extended his support for Sonu Sood. CM of Delhi lashed out at BJP govt via Instagram. He, tweeted, “There are millions of difficulties on the path of truth, but the truth always wins. With Sonu Sood ji, there are prayers of lakhs of families of India who got Sonu ji’s support in difficult times.”
AAP leader Raghav Chadha also called the IT action as a witch-hunt.
Denying the allegation that the raids are done because of politics, Asif Bhamla, BJP spokesman, said, “There is no relation to that (the Kejriwal meeting). Any personality can meet anyone. It is just a search, not a raid. It’s on a tip-off. It’s not necessary that the person who heads the charity has done anything wrong. It must be something at the lower level. Income tax is an independent department, which has its own protocol. It is doing its job.”
Yesterday, actor bid farewell to Ganpati Bappa with his family. He welcomes Bappa like every year into his house.
During the pandemic, Sonu Sood helped many people including hundreds of migrants. From arranging buses to oxygen cylinders for helpless covid patients during second wave, actor extended his support to many people.
