Protests have erupted once again in the Kashmir Valley and this time the protestors are of the Sikh Community alleging that 2 girls of their community in the Union Territory have been abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and married off to older men.
Parents of one of the girls claim that their 18 years old daughter is Differently abled and forcefully converted and married to a 60-year-old man. The police have since then arrested the man on charges of abduction and handed over the girl to her parents.
In a turn of events, she claimed in Court that she has married him out of her own free will and wasn’t forced to convert. On this, the Sikh groups claim that the statement was recorded in the absence of her parents.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also assured the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa who is also an Akali Dal leader that all the abducted girls in J&K will soon return to their families.
The Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has demanded anti-conversion laws in the UT similar to those in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
