Capt. Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, meet with Amit Shah, union home minister. The two prominent political leaders had a meeting for more than 50 minutes which gave boost to the rumours of ‘humiliated’ Amarinder Singh joining the BJP after resigning from the post of CM. Though nothing has been clear yet. Capt. Amarinder Singh, tweeted, “Met Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji in Delhi. Discussed the prolonged farmers’ agitation against farm laws & urged him to resolve the crisis urgently with repeal of the laws and guarantee of MSP, besides supporting Punjab in crop diversification.”
#NoFarmersNoFood was the hashtag mentioned in his tweet. Singh is clearing seen supporting farmers and oppose the three farm laws. He appealed union minister to repeal the laws and give MSP to farmers.
Bharatiya Janata Party, always has a soft corner for Capt. Amarinder Singh due to his military backgrounds. Former CM of Punjab also supported Modi government during Surgical strike in 2016 and the Balakot air strike in 2019. Amarinder Singh may join up with BJP for next election polls.
According to the sources who are close to Mr. Singh said ‘all his options are open’ while those in the saffron party said the party is ‘keen to work with the Captain, but a resolution needs to be reached over the farmers’ protests’.
Punjab crisis started when few days back, Amarinder Singh quit as chief minister of Punjab because he said he felt humiliated. He also attacked Navjot Singh Sidhu and said that he has connections and relations with Pakistan forces. After few days of Amarinder Singh’s resignation, Congress chief of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu also resigned from his post. Soon after the resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Razia Sultana also resigned from Channi’s cabinet. She is considered close to Sidhu.
If Amarinder Singh joins BJP, then it will be a game changer in Punjab Politics. Now, it will be interesting to see if Captain jumps to BJP before 2022 election polls?
