In the announcement of Swachh Survekshan 2021’ awards done by President Ram Nath Kovind once again, Indore has won the award of India’s cleanest city. Indore has bagged this award for the fifth time in row. Indore is the city in Madhya Pradesh. This was the sixth edition of the event.
Like last year, Surat has won the award for being the second cleanest city. Surat has maintained its position this year also. The third position is bagged by Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh. Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra was awarded as the the third cleanest city in India, in the year 2020.
In the cleanliness survey done annually, Chhattisgarh is awarded as the cleanest state and Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh won the title of cleanest Ganga town. These awards are given in the Swachh Survekshan 2021.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Union housing and urban affairs minister, took to twitted to congratulate Indore and its “people, political leadership and municipal corporation,” among others.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh chief minister congratulated the public of Indore “for doing wonders” and achieving the feat of India’s cleanest for the fifth time successively by posting messages on Twitter as well as Koo. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya also took to the micro-blogging sites to congratulate the “Indoris and the cleaning workers” of the city.
