A bizarre incident has come up in the Navi Mumbai city of Maharashtra as a 43-year-old man occupied two rooms in a hotel for a total of 8 months and then fled without paying the bill of 25,00,000 rupees.
Now, the Kharghar police are on the lookout for a 43-year-old man who escaped from the bathroom window along with his 12-year-old son.
The accused is named Murali Kamath and he checked into the hotel in Kharghar on November 23, last year. He eventually told the hotel staff that he was a VFX programmer in the film industry and also that he said he stayed in Andheri.
A police officer investigating the case said that the police has filed an FIR in August after a preliminary investigation and told that, “He booked one super deluxe room for his stay and another one for meetings. He promised to pay the deposit after a month and submitted his passport as surety.”
As per the hotelier, the accused said he planned to purchase a theme park in Khopoli and that he would pay the bill after taking over the theme park. The man also told them that his bank in Singapore wasn’t allowing withdrawal of money due to the pandemic.
He didn’t pay a single penny to the hotel till July 17. Then the hotel staff approached his room and when he failed to respond, the hotel management opened the door with a duplicate key and found the room empty. The accused escaped through the bathroom window with his 12-year-old son and had left behind a laptop and a cellphone.
The police are still on the lookout for the man and his minor son for cheating.
