Modi Government launches a unique health ID card under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched digital health card which are already present in most of Europe, US, Japan etc.
PM Modi said, this launch had the potential to bring “revolutionary changes in our health facilities”. A health card will be provided to every citizen that will be used as their health account. The initiative would play a big role in eliminating problems in medical treatment of the poor and middle class, said PM Modi.
PM Modi said, “Today begins a mission that has the power to bring a revolutionary change in India’s health facilities. Via technology, work done by Ayushman Bharat to connect patients with hospitals across the nation is being further expanded and given a strong technology platform.”
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission was made nationwide that too on the third anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), celebrated by the National Health Authority.
Prime Minister Modi, said, “Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will provide reliable data, leading to better treatment and savings for patients too.”
PM Modi mentioned about the advance infrastructure of India’s digital system. He further said about the UPI system and the CoWin platform. CoWin is the Centre’s digital service provider for Covid-19 vaccination appointments and certificates.
“From ‘Rashan to Prashasan’, UPI is reaching the common man…With 118 crore mobile subscribers, about 80 crore internet users and about 43 crore ‘Jan Dhan’ bank accounts, nowhere in the world would you be seeing such a huge digital infrastructure,” said Narendra Modi.
PM Modi further added, “With the free vaccine movement, India has administered about 90 crore vaccine doses, therefore creating a record. Certification has also been issued for the same. CoWin has to be credited as well for this achievement.”
Remarks on Covid-19 vaccine certification provided by India through the CoWIN app came after when UK created issue regarding the certification of vaccine.
Last year on 15 August, PM Modi announced the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission from Red fort. In union territories, the mission is currently implemented in pilot phase. Mission is going to include a unique health ID for every citizen as their health account, this account can be linked with the personal health records containing details of every test, every illness or disease, the check-ups, doctor appointments, the medicines taken and the diagnosis.
The PMO said, “It will enable access and exchange of longitudinal health records of citizens with their consent. Citizens will only be a click away from accessing healthcare facilities.”
