In a joint press conference on Friday morning, the chief minister of Delhi- Arvind Kejriwal and Bollywood actor, philanthropist Sonu Sood announced to the media the “Desh Ke Mentors” programme of the Delhi Government and also announced that the 47-year-old actor will be the face of the programme as the brand ambassador.
CM Kejriwal also hailed the programme as one of its kind initiatives and informed that under the Desh ke Mentor scheme, over 3 lakh young professionals will guide and 10 lakh Delhi Govt School students will be trained for a bright future.
The programme was in pilot mode for the last one year and today the Delhi Cm informed that the pilot has been successful. The programme revolves around the mentorship of government school students for some time. CM Kejriwal said, “There are many talented students who come from poor backgrounds and need guidance,” and added that, “Someone wants to become a fashion designer, someone else a dancer or a singer; where do they go if they need to seek help or guidance or just want to vent their frustration? Please step forward to talk to them and guide them over the phone.”
Sonu Sood, who was also present at the press conference was termed as a source of inspiration for many by the Delhi CM and added that Sood had accomplished tasks and assisted people in situations where many governments had failed to do so.
Sonu Sood also appreciated the Delhi education model and said, “There should be an education model like in Delhi across the country. We began working in the sector, assisting children with education during the lockdown and are currently helping thousands of children.”
CM Kejriwal said that that the Bollywood actor would be the brand ambassador for the Delhi government’s programme which sought to inspire more people to step up to mentor government school students.
