In preparations and run-up to the Tokyo Olympics, India’s ace archer Deepika Kumari stole the show on the final day of the third stage of 2021 Archery World Cup being held in Paris, France by bagging a HAT-TRICK of gold medals and with her heroics, India is now leading the Medal Tally of this 16 nation world cup with 7 gold and a solitary bronze medal.
She started her day in Paris with a gold in the Women’s Team Recurve event with Komalika Bari and Ankita Bhakat and then went on to win another gold in the Mixed Team Recurve event with her husband Antanu Das.
Later in the day, she defeated Russia’s Elena Osipova 29-26, 29-28, 28-27 to clinch another gold medal. This has propelled Deepika Kumari to the Number One in the World ranking. Earlier in the Men’s Individual compound event of Stage 3, Abhishek Verma clinched a gold medal for India. This is his second world cup gold medal.
India earlier had won 3 golds and one bronze in Stage-1 in Guatemala City, Guatemala and went Medal less in the Stage-2 held in Laussane, Switzerland. Next on the medal tally is the USA with 5 apiece gold, silver and bronze medals followed by the Netherlands with 3-3 each gold silver and bronze medals. The 4th and final stage of the event is scheduled to be held on 1-2 September in Yankton, USA.
