India’s ace tennis player Sania Mirza is all set to become the first Female Athlete to represent India in four consecutive Olympics when she participates in the Tokyo Olympics starting later this month.
Speaking to the press Sania said, “To play four Olympics in a row, I feel really humble and grateful to be in this position to go to Tokyo after having a baby”.
She would be participating alongside Ankita Raina in Women’s Doubles Event. This is going to be Ankita Raina’s first Olympic event.
Earlier this month Sania made a comeback in the Wimbledon 2021 in which she is participating in the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
In the Women’s Doubles Event she and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated the sixth-seeded duo of Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk 7-5, 6-3 in their opening match which lasted an hour and 28 minutes and the duo have now proceeded to the Second Round.
In the Mixed Doubles Round 1, Sania and R Bopanna are now up against Indian Duo Ankita Raina and R. Ramanathan.
Mirza last participated in Wimbledon in 2017 and last won the title in 2015.
