When Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani announced the JioPhone Next at the 44th Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June this year it created quite a buzz in the tech market as he said that the phone will be the most affordable smartphone not just in India, but globally. Now when the smartphone nears its release date in September its specifications seem to have been leaked.
In a Twitter post by the Editor-in-Chief at XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahmaan shared a screenshot of the phone’s boot screen which says “JioPhone Next Created with Google”.
The phone is said to run on Android 11 (Go Edition) carrying the model number LS-5701-J.
It is also tipped that the phone may feature a 720 x1,440 pixels display powered by a Qualcomm QM215 SoC. The chip is a 64-bit quad-core mobile processor with the Qualcomm Adreno 308 GPU and is specially designed for low-end devices. It comes with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon X5 LTE modem with support for Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, up to 1080p video recording, LPDDR3 RAM, and eMMC 4.5 storage.
The RAM is said to be 2 GB with an in-built storage of 32 GB.
In the camera department, the phone is said to be shipping with a single 13-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera at the front for selfies and video calls. Additionally, the phone is said to come pre-installed with Duo Go and a newer version of Google Camera Go is also pre-installed on the phone with Snapchat integration.
As Mukesh Ambani has already announced it to be the cheapest 4G smartphone beating the iTel A53 Pro priced at Rs 4,999; Rahmaan said the phone will be very much under the $50 price range, i.e Rs 3,800.
The phone is all set to go live on sale on 10th September which happens to be the eve of Ganesh Chaturti and the start of the festive season in India.
