World’s highest and coldest battlefield, Siachen is now open for domestic tourists. Tourists will now be able to explore Siachen. The Siachen’s base camp was opened first time on Monday for domestic tourists. This opening was done one the occasion of World Tourism Day. The highest battlefield in the world is considered as Siachen Glacier. With the opening of this glacier, tourist will get a lovely opportunity to witness the beauty of this glacier.
According to official spokesman, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Member of Parliament, Ladakh inaugurated the opening of the Siachen base camp for domestic tourists.
“tourism for inclusive growth” is the theme for this World Tourism Day.
In order to boost the tourism in Ladakh and give people an opportunity to have a look at the hard work done by our army and engineers in extreme weather and inhospitable terrains, the step has been taken, the official said.
The MP accompanied with others visited the war memorial at the Siachen base camp and paid homage to the martyrs.
As a a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence, Secretary Tourism, Ladakh, Mehboob Ali Khan, flagged-off a cleanliness drive from the tourist reception centre.
Along with many stakeholders of the tourism industry such as All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), All Ladakh Hotels and Guest Houses Association (ALHGHA), Ladakh Mountain Guide Association (LMGA) and others also organised a cleanliness drive with the department of tourism, Leh. Garbage bags, Sanitisers, masks were distributed.
According to the officials, the cleanliness drive would be observed at popular tourist places which includes the Sindhu Ghat and Rock-Climbing area of Shey Manla.
Now, it’s gonna be fun for tourists to explore Siachen Base Camp.
