A big relief for the people who want to travel Bangkok and are fully vaccinated. Bangkok has finally announced that it will allow tourists who are fully vaccinated from October 1. The kingdom, on friday, said in a statement that , fully vaccinated foreign visitors will be allowed to visit Thailand for tourism purposes from 1 October,
According to the tourist authority of Thailand, visitors will be able to visit Bangkok and four other provinces without remaining two weeks hotel quarantine. When the world wasn’t hit by the COVID, in Thailand’s national income, tourism took the fifth spot. But today, due to pandemic, the economy’s lowest point in over 20 years is tourism. Thailand was thinking to start tourism but due to rise in number of covid cases, the plan couldn’t take place. But now people are getting vaccinated and moving one step closer to getting safe. The government’s Covid taskforce said, about 16% of the Thai population have received two doses of Covid vaccine.
During Delta variant, the country saw covid cases of more than 1.3 million, with almost 14,000 deaths. According to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, on Friday 14,403 new Covid-19 cases were reported. Fall in cases was seen after reporting over 16,000 cases on Thursday. The new cases reported in Bangkok were 3,495 and 1,037 in Samut Prakan.
The country has introduced a sandbox theme under which tourists after arriving from other country need to stay at one place for a week after taking COVID tests. The scheme is expected to be available in five regions, including Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces. According to the officials, by October 21 other important tourist destinations will also be added to the list including Chiang Rai, Sukhothai and Rayong.
As per government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, under the sandbox scheme, more than 29000 fully vaccinated overseas visitors were recorded in Phuket which generated nearly $50 million in revenue.
The fear of third wave is still not over, so the tourism agency need to be cautious and take strict measures. The country was affected in 2020 with the deadly virus. However, low number of cases were recorder while during the delta variant Thailand recorded more than 1.3 million cases, and nearly 14000 deaths.
